Massie and the other girls from the Pretty Committe are on a boyfast. Which means that the only way to behave with a boy is to treat him like you would treat a brother. But why are the girls on a boyfast? The reason comes down to OCD (the posh private school The Clique girls go to) becoming co-ed for a short duration as OCD's brother school Briarwood has been water damaged, thus having the presence of boys, especially Briarwood's soccer team, becoming the new alphas. Massie hates this, and on top of her alpha status seeming wary, Massie and the Pretty Committe have been moved into overflow trailers to compensate for the large number of students at OCD.
Another nice book in The Clique series, a series where you can learn a lot about top fashion brands and such. Issues discussed are trivial yet humourable, such as in order to remain in the Pretty Committe, a girl musn't break her boyfast. At this age, 12 or 13, girls are quite boy crazy. So the attempts the Pretty Committee make to stay in the group are laughable.
However, I would give an A to Massie for her quotable comeback lines, as there were quite a few, such as (from The Clique movie-I can't remember the exact wording for one about the jumper and meeting your match):
Massie:"Did I invite you to my BBQ?"
Claire: "No."
Massie: "Then why are you up in my grill?"
