My Rating: 4.5 out of 5
Scarlett Martin lives in a hotel in New York City. As part of a recent family tradition, when a Martin turns 15, they're given a suite in the hotel to look after, including it's guests. So on her birthday, when she's given The Empire Suite, Scarlett thinks she's just stuck at the hotel, helping out in the family business with no guest to look after.
However, an interesting character and actress by the name of Mrs. Amberson turns up and resides in Scarlett's assigned suite. Along with her normal hotel guest caring duties, Scarlett has become Mrs Amberson's assisstant, with helping out with her brother's play and taking part in Mrs Amberson's devious schemes. All at the same time, Scarlett meets Eric...
I really enjoyed this book, partly because it was set in NYC and partly because it gives a slight intriduction to the world of theatre. Each of the Martin children are interesting characters in their own right, not just a character 'in the background.' Overall, a very fun book to read a learn a bit from.
