The Eternal Ones

Title: The Eternal Ones
Series: The Eternal Ones
Author: Kirsten Miller

Genre: Romance, Mystery

Haven Moore believes she’s been reincarnated. Since a young age, she's had visions of a past life, where she is Constance, a wealthy, young  New Yorker who is madly in love with Ethan, a handsome man with a strange past. Haven’s small Southern town is not too accepting of Haven’s knowledge, and claim she’s possessed by the Devil. As a result, Haven runs away to New York City find out more about her past and her beloved Ethan, who, in this life, now may be the handsome young movie star Iain Morrow.

The Eternal Ones is one of the few books which I’ve been obsessing to read all year. The anticipation was worth it, because The Eternal Ones was fabulous, just like the reviews I’ve seen around the YA blogosphere said it would be. Although the novel starts off on a slow pace and the fact that it takes a while to become accustomed to the alternating sections from the past to the present, I enjoyed it every single page.

Haven was a likeable character, especially because she’s a strong, independent girl, which I really appreciate. Naturally she was using her heart rather than logic to pursue Ethan/Iain, but she began to use logic as well, rather than going along with what people tell her. Beau (Haven’s best friend) and Leah Frizzell (Haven’s classmate) were two more characters which I actually liked more than Haven because they too, were strong and unique characters and I felt that they had their own ‘voice’ rather than being a subordinate character to contribute to the plot. Marta Vega was also interesting to read about and I would’ve liked to know more about her.
Surprisingly though, Mr Ethan/Iain did not make me swoon (fine, only a tiny bit!).

The Ouroboros society also added another element of mystery to the novel. I’m not really a fan of romance, so the fact there’s some evil force lurking behind the characters kept me reading and intrigued. The mysterious Adam from the Ouroboros Society was perfectly creepy.

I recommend this novel to those who (obviously) enjoy romance novels, mystery, reincarnation and those who like to read about the idea there’s an evil society in the world controlling things.

  1. Ethan was an okay love interest, but there are many other literary heroes that I would rather have :)
    Thanks for the review!
