Along for the Ride

Title: Along for the Ride
Author: Sarah Dessen
Year of Publish: 2009
Genre: ChickLit, Contemporary
My Rating: 4 out of 5

Auden has just finished high school and will be starting university after summer. With nothing much planned to do, she decides to stay with her dad, new wife and stepsister for a while at a seaside town. There, not only does the normally private, studious and shy Auden make friends, but makes an accquiantance with Eli, who, just like her, can't seem to sleep at night. Together, after Eli finds out Auden didn't have much of a proper childhood, the pair go on a quest to teach and have Auden experience normal childhood things, such as bowling, having a foodfight and getting into a club, underage.

Along for the Ride is a slow, but a moving book. Seeing Auden taking a crash-course in multiple things was quite enjoyable to read. An interesting fact about this book is that it is set in the town of Colby, the same place where Last Chance, another novel (which I recommend to be read) written by Dessen is set.

  1. I heart Sarah Dessen. I think she's my favorite YA author. She writes some very moving books. This was one of my favorites (my favorite of SD's book being The Truth about Forever) but I enjoyed getting to know perfect Auden and cutie patootie Eli. Great stuff!

Nice and straightforward review. I like. =)

  2. Thanks Rowena :)
I also really enjoyed 'Keeping the Moon/Last Chance' by Dessen (it was released twice with different titles).
